She was probably born to well-to-do Quaker parents in Hudson, New York. She became the second wife of George Simpson who had children from his first marriage to Caroline Mc Cann who died at age 40 of consumption in Hudson, New York. Sarah did not bear any children, but she raised the very young child of George Simpson and Caroline Mc Cann who was about four years old when his mother died. Dr. William Kelly Simpson, that boy, thought so much of his stepmother that he named his only daughter, born in 1887, Sarah Hull Simpson. The daughter was flower girl when my grandparents Frank Farrand and Helena Willett Alger married Oct. 14, 1896 at Christ Episcopal Church at Hudson, New York. Sarah, the wife of George Simpson, died at the age of 81 years of cancer in Manhattan, New York and her body was sent to Hudson, New York for burial.
