Albert Joseph DeLaet was born in Burcht, Belgium. At the age of 19 on the 18th of FEB 1899 he emigrated to the United States. In his early years in the USA, Albert worked in St Charles, Illinois with the railroad. He made his way to northern Wisconsin and worked in the Menominee River Woodcamp as the cook. It was near here where he met and then married 15 year old Katherine Therise Sebero on 7 JUL 1905 at St Adalbert's Catholic Church in Menominee, Michigan. They spent their entire lives in Wagner, Wisconsin where they raised 17 children.
