Charley Eddie Ager was born in Canyon City, Oregon. He was the son of James Albert Ager and Nancy Jane Dakan. They lived in LaGrande, Oregon and then homesteaded on Day Ridge near Flora in Wallowa county, Oregon. Charley lived with his mother and two sisters, Lizzie Grace who married Sam Davis and Marjorie Mabel who married William Forthman while his father, James, worked out away from home.
When Charley was 21 years old he joined the United States Marines and served for 8 years. During this time he traveled to Santa Domingo, Nicaragua and other parts of the world. He did farm labor and spent much of his time on the Bach farm where he met and married Florence Bach in 1944. When WWII broke out, he joined the United States Navy and was part or the 3rd. Special Sea-bees. He was stationed in Oxinard, California and spent time in the New Heberdies. He was a Cheif Gunner's Mate.
After WWII, he farmed on the Bach farm until the 1960's when he and Florence divorced. He lived the remainder of his life in Malden, Washington. He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity and Order of Eastern Star.
