Kenneth Alfred "Al" Ballinger age 74 went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2011. Al was retired from Dresser Industries as a Quality Control Inspector, he was a charter member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, and started playing music at age 16, he played music and emceed the Renfro Valley Barn Dance for over 35 years, and he was a disc jockey for WRVK, WKXO and the Coyote radio stations for many years. Al was also a Veteran of the Army National Guard and a member of the Berea Masonic Lodge.

AL is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Mary Carpenter Ballinger of Berea, and their children: Melissa (David) Ballard of Lexington and Scott (Angela) Ballinger of Monticello, his siblings Johnnie (Rita) Ballinger of Berea, Wayne (Phyllis) Ballinger of Rockcastle Co, Rilda Baker of Conway, and Minnie Huff of Dayton OH, and 3 grandchildren: Ryan, Logan, and Hayden. Al was preceded in death by his brothers Tony Ballinger and Russell Ballinger, and his parents John and Annas Ballinger.

Funeral services will be Wednesday June 15, 2011 at 11 am at the Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Kays and Deacon Dennis Grant officiating, burial will be in the Berea Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Ballard, Ryan Ballard, Logan Ballard, Hayden Ballinger, Danny Ballinger, Barry Kelly, Jack Baker, and Don Poynter. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Grant, Mike Hammond, Pat Cummins, Clyde Cummins, Joey Kays, Harold Rowlette, Will Venter and other close friends. Visitation will be Tuesday June 14, 2011 at Emmanuel Baptist Church from 6-9 pm. Lakes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
