Glendene Barrett Benn, 88 of Sherwood passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Glendene was born February 9, 1919 in Charlotte, outside of Batesville to the late Allie and Edna Barrett. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis "Don" Benn; and a brother, Lowell Barrett. She was a Terrapin Derby Queen in Lepanto and attended Harding College in Searcy.

She moved to Miami, Fla. in 1942 and eventually became an editor for the Southern Bell Yellow Pages. She was active in the St. Vincent Auxiliary, Salvation Army Ladies' Auxiliary and a number of other volunteer organizations in Little Rock. She was a member of North Little Rock United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Johnny Barrett Floyd and wife, Lianne of Sherwood; sisters, Allene Vaughn of Fort Worth, TX, and Melba "Peach" Verser of Jonesboro; brother, Raymond Barrett of Jonesboro; granddaughter , Elizabeth Jones of North Little Rock and Jennifer Gordon of Sherwood; grandson, Christopher Floyd of Anchorage, Alaska; and three great-grandchildren;
