Robert N. Birch, age 85 passed away on June 7, 2011 at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County. He was born January 10, 1926 and was the son of the late Norman and Edna Berge Birch. Robert was a lifelong resident of Pennsville Township.
Robert attended Salem High School. On December 29, 1943 during World War II he enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S Savannah. After World War II he earned his G.E.D. with the Salem High School Class of 1945.
He retired from the General Motors Corporation, Newport, Delaware February 1989. He was employed with General Motors Corporation for 40 years.
Robert is survived by his wife Katherine; sister-in-law, Sarah Bailey; nephew, Noah McLaren; great niece Jessica McLaren all of Pennsville; and his great niece Rachel McLaren Mersing and husband Clarence Mersing of Morgantown, West Virginia.
Funeral services will be held at the LAUGHREY FUNERAL HOME, Pennsville where friends may call prior to the service. Burial will follow at the East View Cemetery, Salem.
