Freeway Collision Fatal to 2

LOS ANGELES (CNS)--Two persons were killed Sunday in a flaming automobile accident on the Hollywood Freeway between Barham and Lankershim Boulevards.

One of the victims was burned to death at the scene. The other -- his wife, died at Valley Doctors Hospital shortly after the accident.

Police said the accident occurred when a car driven by 41-year-old Duke Stevens, of North Hollywood, collided with a small foreign car driven by Harry Kissamitakis, 39, of South Gate.

The impact ruptured the gas tank of the Kissamitakis automobile, which burst into flames.

Kissamitakis apparently was strapped in the seat of the automobile with a seat belt and was unable to free himself. He was burned to death.

Kissamitakis' wife, Emilie, 40, was dragged from the burning vehicle by Stephen J. Cvikel of Northridge.

Stevens was listed in good condition in the prison ward of Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. He was booked on suspicion of manslaughter.
