Carrie S. Kennedy, 77, Byron died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday Dec 21, 1976 in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

She was born Sept 5, 1899 in Leaf River township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Leary, and lived all of her life in the Byron area.She married Howard Kennedy, May 26, 1920, in Oregon. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Byron, St. Mary's Guild, an honorary member of the Byron Woman's Club and the Legion Auxiliary. She served for years on the community council and attended Byron schools.

Survivors include two sons, Robert, Rockford and Howard Leary Kennedy, Thomson; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Liddle, Byron; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers and five sisters.
Services were held Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Byron with the Rev. Thomas Monoham, pastor of St. Mary's Church officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
