RIO — Donald A. Cross, 83, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at UW Hospital in Madison.
Don was born in Dekorra Township, the son of Pelic and Hattie Breneman Cross, on Sept. 6, 1924. He served his country in the Navy from Dec. 8, 1942, to April 10, 1946. After serving in the Navy he was married and was blessed with two sons. Don worked for the Columbia County Highway Department for more than 40 years, retiring in 1986. His hobbies included hunting, gardening and traveling.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years; two sons; two grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; nieces and nephews; other near relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sterling Cross; and sisters, Vera Mc Nicol, Florence Ramsey, Laura Hamilton and Dorothy Reeves.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Smith Funeral Home in Pardeeville is serving the family.
