Max Taylor Gipple, age 89, of Winfield, formerly of rural Columbus Junction, died Tuesday evening, November 18, 2008 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center. The son of Frank and Franciana (Hamilton) Gipple he was born November 25, 1918, in rural Columbus Junction. On May 2, 1945, he married Lucile Jones at Topeka, Kansas. He was a graduate of the Wyman High School. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Red Bull division. He was combat wounded and received a purple heart. He was a member of the Spring Run United Methodist Church, a member of the Winfield American Legion and V.F.W.; a member of the Disabled Veterans; was a founding member of the Louisa County Pork Producers; a member of the Izaak Walton League.
Survivors include: his wife of Winfield; two daughters, nine grandchildren; three brothers,
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Donald Gipple.
The funeral service was Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the Winfield United Methodist Church; interment followed at the Columbus City Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the Spring Run United Methodist Church and Amenity Hospice.
