Born Dec. 13, 1922, in Columbus Junction, she was the daughter of Vernon E. and Ethel Huston Gipple. On Dec. 2, 1941, she married Donald Abbott in Columbus Junction. He died June 6, 1987.
Mrs. Abbott was a nurses aid at Henry County Health Center for 18 years, retiring in 1987, and sold Avon.
She attended Pitchin School and graduated from Wyman High School.
She was a member of Winfield First Presbyterian Church, Church Circle and American Legion Auxilliary.
Survivors include three daughters, Alice Coleman of Mount Pleasant, Janette Owens of Ainsworth and Virginia Chamberlin of Muscatine; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
The funeral for Mrs. Abbott will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield with Lay Pastor Don Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
A memorial has been established for Sunrise Terrace Activity Fund.
