John H. Allen an old settler of this vicinity died at the residence of his son James this morning, aged 74. He was born at Brockville, Ontario in the year 1819, and came to this vicinity in 1847 where he has since resided. For several years he has been in feeble health. His children are James Allen, Mrs. Louis Altenbern, Mrs. George Schoney, Mrs. John Snyder, Mrs. Wm. Malarkee, of Lena, Mrs Robert Sisson of Iowa, Mrs. John Mackie, Foreston, Miss Martha Allen, Freeport. Published in the Lena Star, August 25, 1893; P 4, Col.4.
