The 1st son of Samuel David and Mary Susanna Fritz Watkins. Born and raised and lived his entire life in Hazleton Luz. Co., Pa.
At the tender age of 13 he was a "slate picker" at the coal mines as were almost all the boys in that day, and the 1940 census shows us he has only a 2nd grade education, also very common in that time.
He married Mary Ann Haggerty 21 Aug. 1890 and they are the parents of:
