Doris D. Beeby, born November 23, 1918 in Garland, Utah passed away February 9, 2011, in Mesa, Arizona. Arrangements under the direction of Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, Mesa, AZ.

Doris Daniels Beeby, 92, died peacefully, Wednesday, Feb. 9th, at home, with her family.

Doris was born in 1918, in Garland, Ut., grew up in Malad City, ID, and lived most of her adult life in Tempe and Mesa, AZ.

Doris is preceded in death by her first husband, Alexander Brown, and two sons: Stephen and Geoffrey Brown, and a brother, Ralph Daniels.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth R. Beeby, her son Alex R. Brown, two daughters: Bonnie (Brown) Domin, Anne Beeby Herchak and her sister Helen Edmark. She has 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Doris worked at the Balsz School District as a secretary, and eventually as the District food supervisor, until her retirement.

A woman ahead of her time, Doris got a pilot's license when she was about 20, while attending nursing school.. During WWII, she shared a motel room with another Army Air Corps wife. She and her 2 young sons had the room from 7PM until 7AM. This was done so she could be close to her husband.

Later, as a widow, she met and married RAF Pilot, Kenneth Beeby, who had been an instructor at Falcon Field in Mesa, during part of the war. They have been together ever since.

Doris was a quiet, funny and loving woman, who however, never passed up an opportunity for fun. She drove a Ferrari in a charity sport's car race at Falcon Field and narrowly missed 1st place. She was equally skilled in the art of making "formal" dresses for her daughters! Doris leaves behind a legacy of strength, gentleness, determination, civility, friendship and love. We are so fortunate to have known her and will strive to continue her legacy.

Services will be Thurs., Feb. 17th, at the Church of the Epiphany, at 2222 Price Rd., at 10:30 AM, followed by a light buffet lunch. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to "Hospice of the Valley."
