Mrs. Scott Ferris, Sr.
(Obituary)
Mrs. Scott Ferris, Sr., died at her home near Walter, Okla., on the evening of Oct. 16, 1905, after an illness of twenty-two days.
Mrs. Ferris was born Sept. 15, 1847, at Short Tract, N.Y. and was married at the place of her birth to Scott Ferris, Sr., in 1867. Immediately after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Ferris removed to Neosho, Mo., where seven children were born to them, three of whom are living. Thomas, living on his farm joining the home place; Anna, who lived with her mother, and Scott, Jr., a practicing attorney residing at Lawton. The children all at the mother's bedside through her illness and at the time of her death, doing all in their power to alleviate her suffering. No mother could have more loving and devoted care than this grief stricken family bestowed, brightening her last days with the feeling that her memory would never die in the thoughts of her children. On Aug. 4, 1904, Scott Ferris, Sr., here husband, died and was buried, at his request, on the home place, the spot being of his selection. After the death of the mother it was decided to take his remains and bury them with hers and the earthly remains of the couple that had travelled so happily through life together will rest in the same grave through eternity. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. McCune, of Walter, and was attended by neighbors and friends of the family from Walter and Lawton. The burial was in the Walter cemetery.
