Services for Gene F. Ackerson, 50, Deming, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at VanZandt Cemetery under direction of Jones Funeral Home. He died Sunday. Mr. Ackerson was a veteran of World War II earning the European, African and Middle East ribbons and the Purple Heart.
Survivors include the widow, Carol; four sons, Michael of VanZandt, Greg of Lynden, Kim and Gary of Ferndale; a daughter, Kathleen Taylor of Marysville; two sisters, Shirley Davis and June Stedman of Bellingham; his step-father, Conrad Helges of Ferndale; and ten grandchildren.
