ADDISON. Jan. 7.—The residents of this village were shocked to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Clark Baxter, who dropped dead at her home on Steuben street at 6 o'clock last evening. After preparing the evening meal, Mrs. Baxter complained of pain in her head and fell over instantly. Death was pronounced due to apoplexy. Mrs. Baxter had recently recovered from an illness of grippe.
Mrs. Baxter was 71 years of age and spent all her life in this vicinity. Twenty-four years ago she was married to Clark Baxter, village overseer of the poor and a member of the local board of education. Her maiden name was Miss Mandie Fanton. A woman of pleasing personality, she had a large number of friends, who will mourn her death. She was a member of Addison Methodist Episcopal Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Jane Strickland and one brother, Andrew Fanton of this village; one step-son, Harry Baxter and two step-grandchildren, of Penn Yan; a niece, Mrs. Lydia Strickland, of Addison, and a grand niece, Mrs. Donald Phillips of Coopers, formerly Miss Wanda Fanton of Addison.
