Owen was the only son and the eldest of five children born to Morris Luther Banks (1860-1948) and Eva Cordelia "Delia" Martin (1861-1936), who married on 18 Dec 1884 in Indiana. According to Delia on both the 1900 and the 1910 Census, the couple had five children together—Owen (18 Nov 1885 – 14 May 1953), Coral E. (19 Oct 1888 – 8 Apr 1975), Mable (b.1891), Sarah Alice (1 Nov 1892 – 13 Sep 1979) and Mary Grace (3 May 1897 – 17 Mar 1959).
In 1900, Owen's family was living on a farm in Center Township, Marshall Co., Indiana that neighbored that of Eber and Rose Deacon. Their daughter Florence would eventually marry Owen on 24 Jun 1908 in Marshall Co.

I found the family on the 1910 Census living in Center Township where Owen was farming for a living. Only son Morris had joined the family at that point. By 1920, the family was in Union Township and Owen was working for Culver Military Academy as a stationary engineer in their power house. His work involved plumbing and steam fitting. Sons Lewis, Fred and Lloyd had joined brother Morris. Baby Harold O. was born in 1918, but died that same year from influenza.
In 1930, Owen and Florence were busy raising the four boys, Owen still working at Culver Military Academy, but by the 1940 Census, only Lloyd was still living at home with his parents and working the farm. Eldest son Morris had married Eleanor F. Head on 11 Jul 1937, Fred had married Edith P. Hatten on 17 Jul 1939 and Louis had married Alice Marie Sensibaugh on 26 Feb 1940. Lloyd married Theresea Margaret Perry later that same year on April 30th.
Owen died in 1953 at age 68. Florence lived another thirty two years before being laid to rest at his side in 1985.
