Henry J. Guethle, 84, 1724 Main St., died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 1989, at a local hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born in St Genevieve, Mo., and lived most of his life in St Joseph.
Mr. Guethle owned and operated Guethle's Market in St Joseph for 27, retiring in 1972.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Augusta M. "Gussie", Jan 6 1981.
He was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church and St Joseph Council No. 571 of the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving: a son, David J., St Joseph: a sister, Florence Reimer, St Joseph, and two brothers, George, St Joseph, and Andrew 'Mac' Clarksdale, Mo.: a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Friday, St Mary's Catholic Church. Burial, Mount Olivet Cemetery. Parish rosary: 7 tonight, Meierhoffer-Fleeman Funeral Home.
