In 1871, she married John M. Hawkins of Greenville, SC. For many years the family lived in the Jonesboro area finally relocating to LaGrange, Georgia where her husband owned a dry goods store. After her husband's death, she remained in LaGrange sharing a house with her son, James Truit Hawkins. Her daughter, Evelyn Hawkins Culbertson was also a resident of LaGrange.
