Homer W. Bennett of 12 Scott St., long time Wayland businessman and former village mayor, died Monday, Nov. 23 in Strong Memorial Hospital following a short illness. He was 71 and had lived in the area his whole life. Homer retired in 1966 from the Bennett Brothers Buick dealership in Wayland after a career of 49 years in the automobile business. He was active in community affairs, served on the village board and was mayor of Wayland from 1928 to 1932. He was a member of the local Masonic lodge and was a member and past president of Wayland Rotary Club. He was a vestryman of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Dansville.
He was survived by his wife, Marion G. Bennett, a daughter, Jean Marie Huey of Nashport, Ohio; a brother, Guy B. Bennett, and a niece and nephew.
