SMITLEY, SR. Robert W. Smitley, Sr., MSgt, USAF, (Ret) of Orange Park, FL passed away May 26, 2011. He was born October 17, 1924 in Antwerp, OH to Frederick and Harriett Smitley. He served in the U.S. Navy for many years before his transfer to the U.S. Air Force, retiring following 26 years of distinguished service and later retired from Civil Service following 35 years service. Bob was a member of the OSO Naval Lodge #1282 F. & A.M. of Corpus Christi, TX, the Shriners, and the Eastern Star. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Stanley Smitley; and his loving wife Lillian. Survivors include his daughter Valinda Smitley; his son Robert W. Smitley, Jr. (Pam); granddaughters Caitlin Vickers and Bobbi Dugan; and numerous nieces and a nephew. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday June 1, 2011 in the chapel of Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens with Full Military Honors. Family and friends will gather from 10 AM until the hour of service on Wednesday morning.
