Obit --- Funeral Services for Pal F. Ballard, Sr., 83, of Tishomingo will be held on Saturday, June 4th, 2011 at 11:00 a. m. in the Bullard Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth McCarthick officiating. Interment will follow in the Condon Grove Cemetery in Milburn, Oklahoma. Mr. Ballard passed away on May 31st, at the Mercy Hospital in Tishomingo.
Pal was born on February 9th, 1928 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Roy Jackson Ballard and Myrtle Joe Howard Ballard. He attended school in Milburn and later served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Josie M. Nichols on December 27th, 1947 in Sherman, Texas. Pal worked for the United Carbon Company in Eunice, New Mexico, at the Atomic Plant in Los Alamos, New Mexico and was a truck driver for many years. After his retirement, he and Josie spent several years as gate keepers for various camp grounds in the state, most recently at Brewer’s Bend near Warner, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jackie Joe Ballard; two brothers, Jack & Bill Ballard and his sister, Mary Needham.
Mr. Ballard is survived by his wife Josie, of the home; two sons, Pal Ballard, Jr. & his wife Sheila of Norman, Oklahoma and Terry Ballard & his wife Charlene of Tishomingo; his daughter, Paula Peden & her companion Delbert Byles of Milburn, Oklahoma; his sister, Ann Johnson & her husband of Tishomingo; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers for the service will be: Joe Johnson, Randy Peden, Pal Ballard, III, Teran Ballard, Terry Ballard, Jr., and Dustin Burrous. Honorary Bearer will be: Dale Burton.
