He was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, April the 25th., 1799. He came to this county in 1823, cleared up a few acres of land and erected a cabin. He then returned to his native home.
In June, 1825, he married Miss Margaret Stoutt, and in August, of the same year, they moved to Perry Township, where they resided until his death, which occurred September 28th., 1884.
The mother, who has almost reached her four score years, and six children, 2 sons and 4 daughters, are his survivors.
The funeral took place October 1st., and was conducted by Rev. Eaggleson, of Mt. Gilead, assisted by Rev. W.W. Anderson, of Bellville. The remains were interred in the cemetery at Fredericktown.
