Burton S. Austin, 88, of Hall-Tarbox Road, died Thursday (April 11, 2002) in Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk. He was born Oct. 8, 1913, in the town of Dayton, the son of Samuel H. and Ida M. Bromley Austin. He attended school in Dayton, and owned and operated a dairy farm for more than 60 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Pine Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars, and drove show ponies and a stagecoach in all local parades for many years. He is survived by three sons: Robert, David and Richard Austin, all of Cassadaga; two daughters: Ida Fiebelkorn of Leon and Mary Austin of Fredonia; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth M. Palmer Austin, whom he married Jan. 29, 1944, and who died Feb. 11, 1979; and two brothers: Clarence and Howard Austin.
