Charles Rood Cutting passed away at Broadview General Hospital May 22, at the age of 85. He was taken suddenly ill at his home in Irasburg. Saturday morning and taken by ambulance to the hospital Saturday.
Charles Cutting was born June 7, 1875 , the son of the late James Rood Cuttiing and Josephine Scott of Newport, on the home farm which was known as the Cutting farm for generations and is now owned by Mr Tanguay.
He received his education in Newport and attended business college in Worcester, Mass. On June2, 1904 he was united in marriage to Harriett Brown in Newport. They continued their married life on the home farm until 1923, then moved to Newark. They moved to Irasburg in 1947. To this union were born five children, Zora, of Haverstraw, NY, Harold of Coventry, Josie (deceased), Arnold of Worcester, Mass, Alton of Coventry and Maureen (adopted) of West Burke.
He is survived by his wife and children besides eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and several cousins.
Funeral services were held at the Curtis Chapel on Thursday, May 25 at 2 p.m., with Rev. John Kilby pastor of the Advent Christian Church officiating.
He was a devoted husband and father and a member of the Advent Christian Church in Newport for many years. He was laid to rest in the family lot in Newport Center. Bearers were his sons, Harold and Alton, grandsons Donald, Larry and Lyle, and Clarence Thayer.
Relatives from out of town to attend were Mrs. Zora Alexander and Lyle of Haverstraw, NY; Mr and Mrs Floyd Donaldson and family of West Burke; Mr and Mrs Albert Corbett, West Burke; Mr and Mrs Clayton Stowell, Jr. of Lyndonville; Mrs Richard Cook, St Johnsbury; Mr and Mrs Melvin Willis, Barton and friends, Mr and Mrs John Donaldson of West Burke.
