Born in Glastonbury on April 20, 1929, a daughter of Mildred (Welch) Kocum of Glastonbury and the late Frank Kocum, she had been a resident of East Hartford for most of her life. Ginnie was a graduate of Glastonbury High School, Class of 1947, and was a long-time faithful communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford. Prior to her retirement, Ginnie was employed by Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford. She liked solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles as well as being an avid reader. However, most of all, Ginnie was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending quality time with her family.
Along with her mother, Ginnie is survived by her two loving sons, Jack Gandini and his wife, Nancy, of Portland, Mike Gandini and his wife, Debbie, of Vernon; her six special grandchildren, Keith Gandini and his wife, Gretchen, of Gilford, NH, Kelly Mitchell of Vernon, Joe Gandini of Portland, Sherri Steele and her husband, Bo, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Shaina Gandini of Vernon, Tim Gandini of the U.S. Navy stationed in Rota, Spain; and six adored great-grandchildren, Mathew, Nathan, Rianna, Patrick, Jesse, and Kyle. She also leaves a brother, David Kocum and his wife, Diana, of Glastonbury; and a brother-in-law, Donald Gandini and his wife, Jaye, of Jericho, VT.
Funeral services will be Friday (August 27, 2010) at 9:45 a.m. from the D'Esopo -East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge Drive, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Veterans Memorial Field-Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
