END OF LONG ILLNESS.
Solomon A. Althouse, Aged 54 Years,
Passes Away
After an illness of two years, Solomon A. Althouse, aged 54 years, died of Bright's disease early this morning, at his home, 1137 Locust street. Deceased suffered a stroke of apoplexy two years ago and then Bright's disease set in. He took to his bed on Tuesday and sank rapidly from that time.
Mr. Althouse who was a native of Heidelberg township, lived in this city for only a few years. Fro some time he farmed in Bern township and in 1895 he took charge of the Fair Grounds farm in Muhlenberg, where he conducted the Fair Ground Dairy. He had large milk routes in this city for nearly 12 years and was well known in Reading. He retired from active life two years ago, when his health began to fail.
Besides his widow, Clara (nee Ahrens), Mr. Althouse is survived by these children: Laura, wife of Chas. F. Weidman; Solomon, Annie and Adam Althouse, this city, and Rev. Howard A. Althouse, of Pinegrove; also these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Louisa Stricker, Wernersville; Daniel Althouse, of Lorah; Morris and Darius Althouse, Mrs. Agnes Weidenheimer, all of Reading; Mrs. Maria Balthaser, Hamburg, and Mrs. Henry Miller, of Bern, and five grandchildren
