For many years Prof. Brooks was superintendent of the Dallas public schools. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the board of deacons and the board of trustees of that church.
Prof. Brooks was survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Hickman Brooks, and a brother, C. L. Brooks, of Missouri. Dallas Lodge No. 760, A. F. & A. M. had charge of the ceremonies at the grave.
