Alice Burghart
Alice D. Burghart, 75, of 707 N. McLean St., Bloomington, formerly of Quincy, died at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday (July 17, 1996) at St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Stephen Willard officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service on Friday in the memorial home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
Surviving is a daughter, Terri C. Miller, Normal; two sons, Charles V. "Vic" Burghart, Rochester; and Robert E. Burghart, Quincy; two sisters, Eloise Peeples, Oregon City, Ore.; and Dorothy Steinfeldt, La Porte, Ind.; her mother, Johanna Duvall, La Porte, Ind.; and nine grandchildren.
Her father preceded her in death.
Mrs. Burghart was born April 18, 1921, at Hamlet, Ind., the daughter of Glenn and Johanna Werner Duvall. She married William Burghart Aug. 29, 1941, at Decatur.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Bloomington. She was an avid bridge player and sports enthusiast. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Phi businesswomen's sorority of La Porte, Ind.
Mrs. Burghart had worked with various firms and government agencies in personnel and insurance underwriting and retired from Illinois State University in 1987.
