Nicolas was the youngest child of Johann and Maria Michels Weber, both natives of Germany. Nicolas is the only one of his siblings born in America that grew to adulthood. All of Nicolas's older adult siblings were born in Germany.

On February 15, 1882, Nicolas married Maria Freund in McHenry, Illinois. They had ten children during their life together. Nine daughters and one son. Their children were born in the following order: Susan, Catherine, Mary, Barbara, Christina, Margaret, Gertrude, Nicolas, Julia, and Hilda.
