CHILDHOOD: Henry Naniwa Kaleialoha Kamakawiwoole, was born in Maemea, Honolulu on December 5, 1900. He had no brothers or sisters. He did not know the identity of his birth parents. He was told (by Mr. Kamakawiwoole) that his birth father was Japanese and his birth mother was part-Hawaiian. He was raised by Lulia Waianuhea [or Waianukea] and her husband John Kalaukoa. From the age of 10 years, Henry was thereafter raised by Allen M. Kamakawiwoole.
