Services for Ida Blystone, retired statistical director and former member of the board of directors for Sanger Harris department stores, will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Restland Abbey Chapel.

Entombment will be at the mausoleum.

Ms. Blystone, 92, died of a stroke Sunday at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.

She began her career at Sanger Bros. department store, before it merged with A. Harris & Co., rising from an office accounting clerk to head of the company's statistical department and to the Sanger Harris board of directors.

Ms. Blystone landed her first job in 1926 in the Sanger Bros. store in Waco. When that store closed during the Depression, Ms. Blystone was transferred to Dallas, said her niece, Ruthann Douglass of Winter Park, Fla.

In Dallas, Ms. Blystone worked for many years in accounting and statistics until becoming director of statistics.

"She was a wonderful mathematician," Mrs. Douglass said. "She worked right with the comptroller and served on the board of directors for a number of years."

Ms. Blystone retired in 1966 and spent her time traveling, doing volunteer work and participating in the Lakewood Book Review Club.

Other survivors include a sister, Ruth Vance of Dallas, and another niece, Bettye Martin of Parker.
