Michael Patrick West, resident of San Jose, passed away Aug. 19, 2010. Born March 25, 1938 in New London, CT and raised in Groton, CT. He was the son of Irene (Gilligan) West and Steven W. West. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years Mary Ann (Deltorchio) West, married Aug. 6, 1960 in Point Arena, CA, and sons Michael and Gregory West and his grandson Jeremy Adams-West, who was his pride and joy. Mike was predeceased by his parents and brothers Steve and Paul West and sisters Margie West Herrarer and Rita West Burge. He is survived by brother John (Eleanor) and sisters Claire West and twin sister Maureen (Vinnie) Miceli, sister-in-law Candy (Richard) Harris and many nieces and nephews. He attended local shools and was in the first graduating class of Fitch Senior School in 1956. He enlisted in the Navy in 1956 and spent 4 years as a Aviation Storekeeper in Fighter Squadron 152 based at Moffett Field, CA. He made 3 far-pacific cruises on aircraft, CVA, carriers USS Hornet, Bennington and Hancock. Mike and Mary Ann were married Aug. 6, 1960 in Point Arena, CA. He graduated from Foothill College in Los Altos and received his BS degree in Industrial Management from San Jose State University in 1966. Baseball was his sport and Mike spent over 20 years as a pitcher of fast-pitch softball. At his request there will be no services. Friends and family will be invited to a get together at a later date. He requested that all donations be made to Habitat for Humanity or your favorite charity.
