Edward McDermott Dies:
MDC Comptroller

Edward J. McDermott Sr., 63, comptroller of the Water Bureau of the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC), died Monday night at his home. He lived at 21 Sunnyfield Drive, Windsor,Conn.
He was born in Hartford and lived in Windsor for more than 24 year. He was employed by the MDC for 43 years and was a communicant of St. Gabriel's Church, Windsor.
He was a member of the Hartford Knights of Columbus,Council 11, past president of the MDC 25 year club, a member of the MDC Men's Club and the New England and American Water Works Associations.
H leaves his wife, Virginia Buckley McDermott: three sons, Edward j. McDermott jr., Francis W. McDermott and James W. McDermott, all of Windsor ( another son, John D. McDermott, died in January of this year): four daughters, Mrs. Donna Arcari, Mrs. Virginia Cleaver and Miss Nancy McDermott, all of Windsor, and Mrs. Mary O'Connor of Long Beach, Calif; a sister Mrs. Arthur Tencellent of West Hartford, and 15 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 8:15 a.m. from the Merwin, Leed and Sheehan Funeral Home, 35 Poquonock Avenue, Windsor, with a Solemn Requiem Mass in St. Gabriel;'s Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mr. St. Benedict Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at the funeral home today at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Newington Hospital for Crippled Children.
MDC commissioners who will be honorary bearers will be: John M. Bailey, Phillips Brown, Maurice Cronan, Edward Devanney, Earle G. Donegan, James Drummond, Morton Eisner, Declan Foley, George Hannon, Saul Kovarsky, John J. Lee, jr., Joseph McCormick, Edward J. McDonough, Thomas J. O'Malley, Milton Richman, John Rossi, David Sibbald, Edgar Sloan, John Torda, John Welles, George Wood and Michael Zazzaro. They will meet at St. Gabriel's Church at 8:45.
