He was born at Jasper, Indiana on April 22, 1931 to Maurice F. and Alberta (Schellenger) Sonderman. He married Marilynn Higgins on Sept 17, 1955 St. Paul's Catholic Church at Danville, Illinois.
Jim Sonderman was a U.S. Navy Veteran (Sea Bee) .
He was the founder of Furniture Suppliers Incorporated in Jasper.
He served on the Board of Directors of the Dubois County Bank/Old National Bank in Jasper for 34 years, he was the 4th generation to serve on the Bank Board. He also served on the Board of Trustee of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
Jim is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jasper Knight of Columbus, and American Legion Post # 147.
