Esther Rebecca Dillard, age 92, of Mt. Ida, died Monday, November 16, 2009. She was born on January 10, 1917, at Story, the daughter of Frank Phillips and Lemmer Aldridge Phillips. On October 19, 1936, she was married to Wilmon G. Dillard, who preceded her in death on January 30, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Olive Phillips; two sisters, Attie Yeaman and Jewel Baker; and one great-grandson, Michael Gibbs. She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle in Mt. Ida and worked for 19 years at the Indianapolis Glove Company in Mt. Ida. She loved gardening, quilting, crocheting, canning and going to church. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Dillard of Sacramento, California, and Charles Dillard of Mt. Ida; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lillie Bryant of Mt. Ida, Betty and Paul Hawkins of Waldron, and Kathy and Loyd Lewis of Jessieville; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Royal and Jessie Phillips of Tuscon, Arizona, Bill and Leota Phillips of Tuscon, Arizona, and Paul Don and Maxine Phillips of Mt. Ida; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dovie Daves of Mt. Ida, Dorothy Brown of Venita, Oregon, Christine and Lawrence Mayfield of Owasa, Oklahoma, and Audean and "Gip" Gipson of Canada; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Faith Tabernacle in Mt. Ida, with Bro. Paul Burke officiating. Interment will be in Rocky Cemetery at Sims, under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday evening, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Allen Black, Chad Ford, Steven Gibbs, Keith Saveall, Dana Dillard, Jamie Saveall, Shannon Hawkins and Ray Dillard. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Esther's great-grandchildren and the staff of Montgomery County Nursing Home.
