Services Saturday For Byron Woman
Mrs. Ella Dannewitz, 71, died Wednesday noon in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
She was born Sept. 10, 1889, in Leaf River Township, Ogle County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Leary. She was married to Melvin Dannewitz in Byron Sept. 10, 1924. He died in 1945.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church, and its Altar Rosary Society, and the Byron American Legion Auxiliary.
She and her husband farmed near Somonauk before moving to Byron 20 years ago. She lived with her sister, Mrs. Julia Myers, in Byron for the past six years.
Survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Myers and Mrs. Carrie Kennedy, Byron, Mrs. Clyde Day, Loves Park and Mrs. Mary Holquist, Bensonville; two brothers, Mose Byron, and Harry, Rockford and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Bakener-Morrison Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Rosary will be recited this (Friday) evening at 8 o'clock in the funeral home. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
