Mrs. Mary Alice Williams, Age 77, of Douglas passed away Tuesday, April 2, 1996, at the Tift General Hospital in Tifton, Ga., following an extended illness. She was born November 18, 1918, to Lonnie and Alice Kirkland Baker.

Mrs. Williams was a native of Ben Hill County, Ga., and was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church of Douglas. She was a retired dietician and had been with the Coffee County School System for 22 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Williams, who was killed in an automobile accident.

survivor include 1 daughter, Faye Aldridge of Douglas, Ga., 3 sons, Jimmy Williams, of Douglas; Ronald Swails (91114549) of Greensboro, NC. and Bill Vickers of Winter Haven, Fl; 3 sisters, Cleo Thompson of Lexington, NC; Clara Jean Thompson of Hortense, Ga., and Hazelene Barrett of Atlanta, Ga; 3 brothers, W. A. Baker and Elton Baker of Douglas; Roy Baker of Greensbobo, NC; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 am on Thursday April 4, 1996 at the chapel of Sims Funeral Home with the internment in the Douglas City Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

NOTE: Mary Alice's mother died in childbirth with her, therefore, she was reared by Arthur Baker and his second wife, Beatrice Graham Baker.

Mary Alice was married 3 times.
