Lapel---Edith Arlene Pettigrew, 70, Lapel, passed away May 14, 2003, at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville after a long battle with cancer. She was born June 16, 1932, in Madison County, the daughter of Clifford Ross Moore (born April 5, 1877, died Aug. 20, 1949) and Rowena (Stottlemyer) Moore (born Jan. 13, 1895, died April 9, 1985). She was baptized on Easter Sunday in 1945, was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel and was a 1951 graduate of Lapel High School. On Oct. 27, 1951, she married Lapel resident Robert Pettigrew, (born Feb. 23, 1928, died Dec. 7, 2000) in Ozark, Ala. She retired from Guide Lamp (Delphi Division of General Motors) after 30 years of employment.
She is survived by two sons, a nephew of Lapel, a niece,of Bradenton, Fla.; and a great-nephew, of Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Clifford Moore Jr. and Charles Wilbur Moore; and a sister, Betty C. Huntzinger.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel with the Rev. Evan Lash officiating. There will be no visitation.
