Philippine Insurrection Medal of Honor Recipient. He was in the United States Army and served as a Corporal in Company M, 27th Infantry, US Volunteers. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on December 19,1899 at San Mateo, Philippine Islands. His citation reads "Attempted under a heavy fire of the enemy to swim a river for the purpose of obtaining and returning with a canoe."
