Patrick was a carpenter and a farmer who married Eliza R. Danger daughter of Henry Danger/Dangler. He married Eliza Danger 15 September 1837 in Lauderdale County, Alabama. They had ten children Harriet who married George A. Maricle; William Madison who married three times the last being Martha Ann Talley; Sarah; John Wesley who married Sarah "Sally" Tate; Minerva J. who married Reuben Musgraves; Margaret who married Reubin Mundy; Hester C. who married Martin Vernon Waggoner; Thomas J. who married Emily J. Butler; and Dutch. Patrick after his sons William M. and John W. enlisted in 87th IL VOL INF he did so also enlisting in Co D 87th IL VOL INF and he died on furlough of yellow fever on board ship DIANA at Cario, Alexander County, Illinois.
