Long time Ripley resident Elva Aline Dawson Eckley died Monday, March 4, 2002,

Visitation at the Palmer Funeral Home in Cushing will be Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cushing. Dr. Lonny Lee and Rev. Marvin Skinner will preside. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater. Palmer Funeral Home in Cushing is directing the arrangements.

She was born in Edmond Dec. 24, 1911, to John Harvey and Ella Mae Beasley Dawson.

In 1919 the family moved to Qauy where she attended high school.


She married Clyde Thomas Eckley Dec. 14, 1929, in Pawnee.

She lived in Ripley for 53 years before moving to Cushing in 1996.

She worked outside the home for several years but her main focus in life was her family and church.

She taught Sunday school classes until she was 83. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cushing.

Her hobbies were flowers, gardening and sewing and was always ready to prepare a meal at anyone's arrival.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by four sisters and four brothers and a grandson, Sean Davis.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna Casey and her husband James of Springfield, Mo., Saundra Dane and her husband Skip of Springfield, Mo., and Linda Wright and her husband Gene of Cushing; 11 grandchildren, LaDawn Conner, Michael Casey, Christopher Casey, Heather Zanfardino, Cynthia Schull, Michelle Dane, Alicia Williams, Tonja Gillespie, Kelly Wright, Kerry Wright and Kevin Wright; 19 great-grandchildren and other relatives, Beatrice Henshaw of Edmond, Dorothy Elliot of California, James Lee, of Rogers, Ark. and Loreeta Colville of Enid.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to her son-in-law, Gene Wright, for all the care and time he gave her during her illness and a special thank you to Judith Karman Hospice; Pallbearers will be Bill Vanbuskirk, Leonard Wells, Sid Shaw, Tom Lee, Shelby Ashment and Billy Ahrberg.
