CAMERON, Mo. - Russell W. Bowers, 74, Cameron, MO, passed away on August 1, 2010 at his home. Russell was born July 4, 1936, in Anthony, Kansas to Clyde and Elsie (Ruch) Bowers. After Russ graduated high school, he attended Wichita University and Fort Hays University and become a Chemical Engineer. Russ worked in his chosen profession in several states which included 5 years in Southeast Asia. On September 9, 1956, Russ married Jane Kent. To this union were born 3 wonderful children, Kim, Brenda and Terry. In May of 2003, Russ and Joy Winsted Simpson of Cameron met at a high school reunion. They had attended high school together and had dated at that time. They married December 20, 2003. She survives of the home. Russ was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley. Survivors: 2 daughters, Kim (Joe) Schroller, Topeka, KS and Brenda (Dick) Schumacher, Wichita, KS; son, Terry (life partner Jason Chaika) Bowers, Topeka, KS; 4 grandchildren, Ricky Schroller, Brittani (Schroller) Starks, Matthew and Michael Schumacher; step-son, Craig Simpson; 5 step-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Jean Hicks. Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Poland-Thompson Chapel, Cameron. Family will receive friends after the service. Private Family Inurnment at a later date. Memorial Fund: Comfort Care Hospice and/or Cameron Veteran's Memorial Golf Course.
