Mrs. Ellen J. Bates Giachino, 51, 2869 Grant, died Friday evening in the Dee Hospital after a one-day illness.
Mrs. Giochino was born March 7, 1910, in Walla Walla, Wash., a daughter of Orin L. and Ellen Noblet Bates.
She had been employed by Utah State Liquor Commission and Evans Super Market. She was a former member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen Auxiliary and Order of Railway Conductors and Brakemen Auxiliary.
She was a member of the LDS Church. She had been secretary of the March of Dimes and active in Democratic Party.
On Nov. 6, 1936, she was married to Peter E. Giachino in Malad, Idaho.
Surviving are her husband, one son, Orville A. Nellestein, Orange, Calif.; one grandchild, a niece whom she reared, Miss Juanita Pincock, Ogden; seven sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Jensen, Ogden; Mrs, Grace Hall, Reno, Nev., Mrs Frank (Mildred) Wright, Murray; Mrs. Clara Shepard Layton, Vile, Calif.; Mrs. Carl (Etta) Bingham, Roy; Mrs. Lila Jones, Ogden; Mrs. J.S. (Dody) Baird, Fairmont, Utah; one brother, O.L. Bates, Walla Walla Wash.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Myers Mortuary Chapel with Bishop Rulon Wardle conducting. Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday until services.
Burial in North Ogden Cemetery.
