Mrs. Simenec was a daughter of Etta (Campbell) and John Walter Amos of Wetzel County, W. Va. Her mother died when Nina was a toddler, and she and her brother Fountain became wards of William J. and Emmeline Arnett of Mannington, W. Va., in August, 1913. In 1943, Nina married Joseph Simenec, a merchant marine. At that time, she was working in a shirt factory in Lebanon. Over time she became a lodging house manager and owner.
