EILEEN HOFFARTH IS CALLED IN CITY
Spinal Meningitis Proves Fatal to Well Known Young Lady.
Funeral Services Conducted at St. Mary's Church Monday.
Eileen Hoffarth, lasat week taken to the University hospital, died there Friday, a victim of spinal meningitis. She had been ill for less than two weeks and while her condition was serious when she left for the cities, her friends and family did not know how critical the nature of her illness was. Showing improvement at first, she suffered a relapse which resulted in her death Friday.
Eileen Victoria, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hoffarth, was born in this community December 8, 1915. She graduated from the local high school and for the past three months had on occasion been employed by the Hart Publications, Inc.
Her marriage to Jasper Shaver was to have been an event of this summer. During her illness her fiance was constantly at the Hoffarth home lending the parents every assistance and was with Mr. and Mrs. Hoffarth at their daughter's bedside when the final summons came.
Surviving are the parents, Mr. and [Mrs. Hoffarth and chil]dren: Mrs. Everett Drager, Grey Eagle; Marie, Louise, Mildred, Roman, Eleanor, Lillian and Donna Mae, at home. One sister, Cyrilla, preceded her in death.
A member of St. Mary's church, rites were conducted there Monday morning at 10 o'clock with Rev. Fr. George Rauch officiating. During the services Miss Olivia Hoffarth and Norman Hoffarth sang, "In Jesus Triumphant I Live," and "The Requiem Song."
Interment was made in the church cemetery with Miss Helen Groover as crossbearer and the following as pallbearers: Woodrow Shaver, Richard Schenk, William Clendenin, Virgil Moore, Jos. Carroll and John Muenzhuber.
A popular member of the younger set in the community, Eileen's death has come as a great shock not only to members of her family and her fiance but to a large circle of friends who liked and respected her.
Friends and relatives from a distance who were present at the funeral included: Wm. Pacholl, Mr. and Mrs. Zwilling, Mrs. J.L. Fuerstenberg of St. Joesph; Mr. and Mrs. Evertt Drager, Grey Eagle; Mr. and Mrs. August Peterson and Arthur Schroeder of Clarissa; Mrs. Tracy Rosch and children and Miss Mae Shaver of Minneapolis, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McHugh and children of Osseo.
