"SHELMIRE - Suddenly on December 31, 1893, David Shelmire, in his 78th year. Services at his late residence, Downingtown, Pa., on Thursday, January 4, at 10.30 A. M. Interment private. Train leaves Broad Street Station at 8.50 A. M."
In the 1860 census, David was a miller, living with his second wife Ann, their daughter and her sons by a previous marriage, and his son Jacob from his first marriage. He was a miller. By 1880, David was a customs inspctor and he and Annie had two more girls.
