Retired teacher enjoyed running his small farm

Gene J. Adzima, 3272 Hadley Road, Hadley, passed away Friday (8-21-09) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. He was 58.
Gene was born May 26, 1951, in Meadville to the late John and Dorothy Mae (Hazen) Adzima.
He married Carol D. Evans on June 9, 1979. She survives.
Gene was a graduate of Commodore Perry High School and California (Pa.) University, with a bachelor’s degree in industrial arts.
He retired from Mercer Area School District as an Ed. Tech instructor with 34 years of service this year.
Gene was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Blue Lodge in Greenville.
He loved his two horses and enjoyed hunting, woodworking and beekeeping. He took pleasure in running his small farm.
Survivors include: two sons; Brian Adzima, a doctoral candidate in chemical engineering at University of Colorado, Boulder, Colo.; and Alan Adzima, an electrical engineer with Northrop Grumman Corp. in Sykesville, Md.; two brothers; Thomas Adzima and his wife Jean, Anchorage, Alaska; and Bruce Adzima and his wife Linda, Oakmont, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
