Hazel Alene Gayhart Nichols Belcher, 85, of Ironton went home to be with her Lord on November 9, 2006, at Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Hazel was born June 15, 1921 in Paintsville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Hazel Dora Gibson Turner.

She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry Lee Belcher,
a foster son, Dale Womack

2 grandchildren,
Paula and Chuck Vanderpool
her first husband, William Gayhart.

She was a member of Gateway Baptist Church and served as a foster parent in Ohio and Kentucky until age 79. Hazel has touched many lives along her journey and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by her children-
a son, B.J. Gayhart and wife, Sondra of Flatwoods, Kentucky;
daughter, Sidney Lewis and husband, Don of Franklin Furnace, Ohio;
daughter, Yvonne Morgan of Ironton;
daughter, Star Mullins and husband Scott of Waverly, Ohio.

Foster daughters,
Katie Adkins and husband Glenn of Ironton,
Margaret Vanderpool and husband Darwin of Ironton.

Hazel also leaves behind 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Funeral service was at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton, Ohio with Rev. Scott Jenkins and Rev. Tim Jayne officiating. Burial followed in Woodland Cemetery.
